Rocket 5 Receives Interactive Digital Media Fund To Develop New Virtual Reality Game

Ontario announced yesterday that Rocket 5 Studios is one of 52 companies receiving investment through the Interactive Digital Media Fund as part of the provence’s $6 million investment in the digital media industry.

Rocket 5 received the IDMF as part of the Ontario Media Development Corporation’s new Concept Definition fund which “provides support for early-stage activities that will assist in moving towards the production of a market-ready project.”

Rocket 5 will use the money received from the Fund to create a prototype for their new Virtual Reality game Bungee Gunfight which is scheduled to start production later this year. We’re not quite ready to reveal any information about the game at this point since the idea is still early in development, but we’re very excited that the OMDC has chosen to invest in Bungee Gunfight and we can’t wait to bring it to the hotly anticipated VR space.

The Interactive Digital Media Fund provides an incredible opportunity for game development studios like ours by providing a non-repayable investment that helps us to hire staff and create fun, high quality products that can stand out in the highly competitive video game market.

This is the second IDM Fund that Rocket 5 has received. In 2015 Rocket5 received the IDM Fund for Kitty Disastrous which is currently in development for next-gen consoles and desktop computers.
